Dr. Seanna Swayne completed 2 years of a biological science degree at the University of Guelph prior to her acceptance to the Ontario Veterinary College. Throughout her education at the University of Guelph, Dr. Swayne was a varsity athlete with the women's rugby team. She graduated with distinction from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. Dr. Swayne then completed a rotating internship at The Ohio State University in 2005.

Following her internship, she worked as an emergency veterinarian from 2005-2007 at several emergency hospitals in South Western Ontario, including MOVEH. In 2007, Dr. Swayne went to the VEC where she did a year surgical internship followed by a 3 year surgical residency.
