Dr. Anne Sylvestre graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 1986. She worked in a small animal practice for two years in the Maritime Provinces before returning to the OVC for an internship and surgical residency, and a graduate degree. She then spent two years in Philadelphia, on staff in the small animal surgery department at the University of Pennsylvania. Once again she returned to Guelph, this time as a member of their teaching faculty.

In 1998, she left OVC to start her own mobile referral surgical practice based in Southwestern Ontario. In 2002 she started a continuing education business called "Focus and Flourish" (www.focusandflourish.com). Through this business, she offers a variety of practical workshops to veterinarians who wish to improve their surgical skills. Her most popular workshop to date is on cruciate surgeries.

Dr. Sylvestre now practices specialty surgery within the new hospital's referral centre.
